> About

Explore strange lands and eat eggs as Olive the long-haired dachshund!

This is a simple and "relaxing" 2D platformer created by the extremely unknown indie game-dev, Mike.

> Lore

You play as a long-haired dachshund who is left at home in an elegant apartment furnished with generic antiques. Your owners have abandoned you for what seems like days, but could have easily been "Dog Days" (45 minutes).

The point is, you are hungry, and no one is available to give you your food!

It's time to stop pouting, take action, and find your own path to snacks, treats, and more treasure!

The standard sized dachshund was developed to scent, chase, and flush out badgers and other burrow-dwelling animals, while the miniature dachshund was bred to hunt small animals such as rabbits and mice. In the Western United States, they have also been used to track wounded deer and hunt prairie dogs.

 Though the breed is famous for its use in exterminating badgers and badger-baiting, dachshunds were also commonly used for rabbit and fox hunting, for locating wounded deer, and in packs were known to hunt game as large as wild boar and as fierce as the wolverine.

Played the updated version! Here's my impressions:
-animations are great, falling and jumping now feel much more responsive. Maybe the next big thing for animations could be to spice up the walking a bit, make it more playful, maybe make the head move up and down.
-making the player hit a button to eat eggs kinda just slows down progress, i'd only keep this for the big eggs and i'd make the teleporter interactable instead of just activating it when you touch it.
Keep it up, waiting for enemies :D

Great ideas, I was on the fence about biting eggs, but think you’re right about only having it on the large eggs.

I’ll have to think about a more interesting teleporter mechanism. I did want to have it require a key to encourage exploration and open up the levels a bit.

Thanks for staying engaged!

does it works on 32 bits?

I honestly don’t know, it’s just on WebGL/HTML5 and idk how that translates to bits.

ok, the dog is adorable, and the art looks cool. Just a few suggestions:
-the tiles jitter a lot, and you can often see white lines between the seams. Look up pixel snapping and pixel perfect camera for this;

-coming down so fast feels awkward and makes the camera move way too fast, I'd either make the jump shorter or reduce the increased gravity effect;

-add a jump animation, having the dog stay still while in the air feels a lot less complete;

-add danger (fall damage, spikes, etc) and maybe objects, like a ball to throw at a button that opens a door, or a whistle toy that scares away an enemy bird, dog stuff;

-why eggs? wouldn't bones or dog treats work better?

all in all, it's a fun story, keep developing it :)

(I'd appreciate it if you could check my demo out btw, it's on my profile :P)

Thank you for the kind comment!

The jittering tiles are a big issue. I think I have to tinker with the camera to fix it but it might take a few days to get it right. I might also be able to fix the awkward movements with the camera settings.

Definitely a jump animation.

I coded hazards and a simple life system into the game, but got sidetracked.

The eggs are an inside joke with me and my partner and I thought it was a funny food lol. I also wanted to add dinosaurs as enemies.

Stay tuned for future updates :)
